Vitamin A
Vitamin A is most commonly found in the form of retinol which is important in vision and bone growth. Vitamin A improves the infection-fighting properties of white blood cells to keep the body free from bacteria and viruses.
This infection protection is one reason why Vitamin A is very popular in dermatology. Retinol works to resurface the skin erasing fine lines while also protecting it from bacteria that can cause acne. You can add more Vitamin A to your diet by eating foods like liver, eggs and leafy vegetables or by taking a supplement. Having an excess of Vitamin A could cause headaches, vomiting and lead to birth defects. Discuss taking a Vitamin A supplement with your doctor before adding it to your diet.
